:: Wow by Chris Rhatigan ::

Electricity so off the wall
it's dangerous
in riptides and whitewater
swallowing
drowning
engulfing
breathing underwater.
But we push on,
hummingbirds who can't
stop beating their wings.
Why?
For more,
always for more,
after all
he who dies with
the most trophies wins,
or so they say...

Where have all the
Leaves of Grass gone?
Buried and compost by now
their memory faded
like dripping rainbow murals overhead.
So to more rural areas I venture,
with rolled crimson mountains and hushed valleys,
polar gardens and butterflies fluttering towards
towering blue pine trees as
fresh air rolls me out of bed.
